Jury report

'Gimme Shelter – Civil Disturbance or How Political can Fashion be?'
Second-hand or home-made flags make up the raw material for this collection and serve as supports for ironic and provocative lettering that is painted or stuck on. The cut of the garments is borrowed from old-fashioned sports clothing. The collection links different planes of meaning in an interesting way, and moves in the field of tension between potentially anonymous flag symbolism and manifestations moving more towards the individual. At a first glance they seem readily intelligible, but soon lose their apparent lack of ambiguity.
