Award ceremonies swiss dance awards 2019

Award ceremony on October 17th at the Théâtre Equilibre in Fribourg

The Federal Office of Culture presented the fourth Swiss Dance Awards on 17 October 2019 at the Théâtre Equilibre in Fribourg, in the presence of Federal Councillor Alain Berset. The Swiss Grand Award for Dance went to La Ribot for her long-standing achievements as a choreographer, dancer and artist. At the same event, the Outstanding Female Dancer accolade was presented to Marie-Caroline Hominal and the Outstanding Male Dancer to Edouard Hue, while Dominique Martinoli received the Special Dance Award. The Federal Dance Jury also selected four winners in the Current Dance Works competition, and the June Johnson Dance Prize was presented to Marion Zurbach and her company Unplush. In addition to the presentations and film tributes, Marthe Krummenacher and guests performed «ceci est une rencontre», Edouard Hue showed an extract of «Molten» and a video clip of «Happy Island» by La Ribot was shown.

Award ceremonies swiss dance awards 2017

Award ceremony on 12 October 2017 at the Théâtre Equilibre in Fribourg

The Federal Office of Culture presented the third Swiss Dance Awards on 12 October 2017 at the Théâtre Equilibre in Fribourg, in the presence of Federal Councillor Alain Berset. The Swiss Grand Award for Dance went to Noemi Lapzeson, choreographer, dance pedagogue and founder of the company Vertical Dance in Geneva, for her pioneering achievement in comtemporary dance. At the same event, the Outstanding Female Dancer accolades were presented to Tamara Bacci and Marthe Krummenacher, while Claudio Prati and Ariella Vidach with their company AiEP received the Special Dance Award. The Federal Dance Jury also selected four winners in the Current Dance Works competition, and the June Johnson Dance Prize was presented to Kiriakos Hadjiioannou and his company Antibodies. In addition to the presentations and film tributes, the AiEP company performed “Temporaneo Tempobeat” and the “Ballet Junior” showed “Un moment instant”, a solo by Lapzeson from 1991 which her long-standing dancer and companion Marcela San Pedro has rehearsed in a new version with four dancers specially for this evening.

Award ceremony on 16 October 2015 at the Théâtre Equilibre in Fribourg

The Federal Office of Culture presented the second Swiss Dance Awards on 16 October 2015 at the Théâtre Equilibre in Fribourg, in the presence of Federal Councillor Alain Berset. The Swiss Grand Award for Dance went to Gilles Jobin, choreographer and head of the eponymous company in Geneva. At the same event, the Outstanding Female and Male Dancer accolades were presented to Simone Aughterlony and Ioannis Mandafounis, respectively, while Claude Ratzé and Association pour la danse contemporaine (ADC) in Geneva received the Special Dance Award. The Federal Dance Jury also selected four winners in the Current Dance Works competition, and the June Johnson Dance Prize was presented to Daniel Hellmann and 3art3 Company. In addition to the presentations and film tributes, miR Compagnie from Basel performed the breakdance duo “Loop” and two Bachelor students from the Zurich University of the Arts danced a duet from Martin Schläpfer’s “Kunst der Fuge”. The tribute to Gilles Jobin took the form of a film portrait, as the company was performing abroad on the day of the ceremony.

Award ceremonies swiss dance awards 2013

Award ceremony on 20 September 2013 at the Théâtre Equilibre in Fribourg

The Federal Office of Culture presented the first Swiss Dance Awards on 20 September 2013 at the Théâtre Equilibre in Fribourg, in the presence of Federal Councillor Alain Berset. Martin Schläpfer, Director of the Ballett am Rhein in Düsseldorf, received the Swiss Dance Award, and the Special Dance Award went to Théâtre Sévelin 36. Four entries in the Current Dance Works competition also received prizes. Yen Han and Foofwa d’Imobilité received the Outstanding Female and Male Dancer accolades respectively, while the June Johnson Dance Prize went to Anna Anderegg and the Asphalt Piloten. In addition to the award presentations and film tributes, Yen Han and Foofwa danced short pieces live. Martin Schläpfer presented two works with the Ballett am Rhein: his own choreography “Lontano” from 2009, and “The Old Man and Me” by Hans van Manen, in which Schläpfer danced with Marluccia do Amaral.
