Swiss Music Prize
Selection process
The Swiss Music Prize honours outstanding and innovative Swiss musical creativity and contributes to its communication. Each year, the Federal Office of Culture mandates around ten experts in the field of music. From all regions and (interdisciplinary) musical genres, they nominate around 60 candidates for the Swiss Music Prize.
In spring, the seven-member Swiss Federal Music Jury will select 15 prizewinners from the proposals. Among the criteria are the excellent quality of musical creation, innovation as the ability to question oneself and constantly reinvent oneself, and the national and international appeal of the musicians.
The Swiss Grand Prix Music is endowed with CHF 100,000, the Swiss Music Prizes with CHF 25,000 each. The prizewinners are ambassadors of a cosmopolitan and lively musical Switzerland.
