Swiss Theatre Awards ceremony moves to French-speaking Switzerland for third edition

The third Swiss Theatre Awards presentation ceremony takes place for the first time in French-speaking Switzerland, at the opening of the 3rd Swiss Theatre Encounter in the Théâtre de Carouge-Atelier de Genève on 26 May. This year’s awards go to the director and head of the Schauspielhaus Zurich, Barbara Frey, the Genevan actor Jean-Quentin Châtelain, the independent company 400asa, Junges Theater Graubünden, and Germain Meyer, the theatre mediator from Jura. The winner of the Swiss Grand Award for Theatre / Hans Reinhart Ring 2016 will be announced at the award presentation in Geneva by Federal Councillor Alain Berset.

Swiss Theatre Awards – the 2014 winners

Today, in the presence of Federal Councillor Alain Berset, the Federal Office of Culture FOC presents the inaugural Swiss Theatre Awards as part of the 1st Swiss Theatre Encounter at the Theater Winterthur. In addition to the previously announced Swiss Grand Award for Theatre / Hans Reinhart Ring for Omar Porras, Nikola Weisse and Fabienne Hadorn receive Outstanding Female Actor accolades. A further five Swiss Theatre Awards 2014 go to Massimo Furlan, Beatrix Bühler and the festival auawirleben, Milo Rau, Cristina Castrillo, and the junges theater basel.

The 2014 Swiss Grand Prix Theatre/Hans Reinhart Ring Award goes to Omar Porras

On 22 May 2014 Federal Councillor Alain Berset will attend the inaugural Swiss Theatre Awards of the Federal Office of Culture (FOC). The ceremony will be held as part of the 1st Swiss Theatre Encounter at the Theater Winterthur. Following the recommendation of the Federal Jury for Theatre, the FOC has chosen Omar Porras as the first recipient of the Swiss Grand Prix Theatre/Hans Reinhart Ring award.
