Judith Hofmann was born in Zurich and studied at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna. She was a cast member of the Bayerische Staatstheater in Munich from 1994 to 1999, before moving to Vienna’s Burgtheater from 1999 to 2001 and subsequently to the Thalia Theatre in Hamburg from 2001 to 2009. She was nominated for a Nestroy Award in 2006 for her role as Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing (directed by David Bösch). In 2010 she was given the Tilla-Durieux jewellery, which is to be kept for ten years by an “outstanding German-speaking exponent of the acting profession”.
