Swiss film­maker Jean-Luc Go­dard has been awarded the Swiss Con­fed­er­a­tion‘s Grand Award for De­sign 2010. His avant-garde works cre­ate a vi­sual uni­verse that has in­spired an en­tire gen­er­a­tion of artists, de­sign­ers and crit­ics in many dif­fer­ent fields.
Go­dard has been awarded the Swiss Grand Award for De­sign in par­tic­u­lar to ho­n­our his state­ments in the field of de­sign. Char­ac­ter­is­tic of the film­maker‘s oeu­vre is his in­quiry into vi­sual qual­i­ties and his com­plex ap­proach to a va­ri­ety of de­sign el­e­ments: colour, fash­ion, in­te­rior de­sign, light­ing, ty­pog­ra­phy, graph­ics, the ex­plicit de­sign of sound, the re­la­tion­ship of lan­guage and image, ex­per­i­men­tal forms and the analy­sis of the work­ings of sub­jec­tive per­cep­tion.
