Albert Kriemler (AKRIS)

Fashion designer

The Swiss Confederation honours Albert Kriemler not only for his creativity and the constant perfecting of the form, the cut and the materials of his collections but also for the buildup and the emergence of a fashion company that has no equal in Switzerland and abroad. Founded in 1922 as a apron factory by Albert Kriemler's grandmother, AKRIS became a couture house under the direction of his father Max, who in turn handed over the reins to Albert and his brother Peter in 1987. Albert Kriemler is the chief designer and is responsible for creation and marketing while Peter Kriemler heads the production and management. This embodies the core of the house's success: teamwork, tradition and a common history - all driven by innovation.
