Bühnenbild zu 'Der gute Mensch von Sezuan'
By structuring the stage space horizontally, Alain Rappaport creates two worlds that are separate in terms of content, placed vertically one above the other. As a permanently existing, uniform space, this architecture allows for simultaneity and visible mixtures during the staging of a whole range of levels (of meaning). Alain Rappaport intervenes in the space with simple additive, agitprop-like devices, at the same time supporting the clear spatial conception with a succinct yet subtle lighting design.
