The 'Swiss Grand Award for Design' was in­tro­duced by the Fed­eral Of­fice of Cul­ture in 2007 to ho­n­our es­tab­lished de­sign­ers or de­sign of­fices that have con­tributed to the ad­vance­ment of Swiss de­sign both na­tion­ally and in­ter­na­tion­ally. By launch­ing the 'Swiss Grand Award for Design', the Fed­eral Of­fice of Cul­ture com­pleted a se­ries of mea­sures to ac­tively pro­mote, sup­port and dis­tin­guish Swiss de­sign. Five peo­ple were se­lected for the 2011 prize.
