Simon Waldvogel

Simon Waldvogel (1987) is a theatre director and performer. Born in Grabs, he grew up in Lugano where he lives and works. He graduated from Teatro Arsenale international school, and drama school Accademia dei Filodrammatici di Milano and works as a performer with different companies, taking part in many productions and international tours. He added writing to his repertoire in 2017 when he made his debut as a writer and director. In 2018, he co-founded the Collettivo Treppenwitz with other local artists, a venue doubling as a production centre and theatre company, with which he realises projects merging theatre, performance and installation. Simon Waldvogel is co-founder of TIB – Ticino Is Burning and winner of the 2022 Swiss Performing Arts Prize. He has collaborated with the Swiss Theatre Meeting since 2024, where he is manager of the Forum for young professionals in the performing arts. Moreover, he has worked since 2025 as executive assistant for the artistic direction of the FIT Festival of Lugano, as part of a triennial pilot project on the curatorial transition supported by M2ACT and Pro Helvetia.
