Inspired by H.R. Giger and Hayao Miyazaki, Marius Margot uses the medium of painting to portray a dystopian universe where the body is put at risk by unknown forces. Escaping the claws of a monstrous creature, under a spell or mutilated and trampling on a myriad of books – the sources of our knowledge –, the ordeals that the human being faces here are always used to release an unexpected burst of energy. As fragments of key narratives where the body faces cruelty, and either escapes or confronts it, these works can be read as metaphorical accounts of creation produced by the artist unleashing this energetic force and changing his perspective on the world.
