Kate Espasandin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music from the University of Cambridge (UK) and a Master’s in Musicology from McGill University (Canada). In 2014, she co-founded the Jazz au Peuple Festival in Nyon, which is dedicated to promoting Switzerland's jazz and improvised music scenes. Two years later, she joined the programming committee of the Cully Jazz Festival, where she is responsible for contemporary jazz scenes at the OFF Festival with a focus on emerging Swiss musicians.
Since 2017 she has been a member of the Live in Vevey committee as a curator, where she also organises artists’ residencies at the Théâtre de l’Oriental. In addition, she sits on the jury of the Swiss Music Prizes and the committee of Suisse Diagonales Jazz, and has been invited to act as an expert jury member for various prizes, including M4music and the ZKB Jazz Award. Since 2023, she has held the position of secretary general of the Fédération genevoise des musiques de création (FGMC) while pursuing a Master’s degree in Law.
