At the centre of Camille Alena’s presentation is a monitor, or more accurately a TV, since it alludes to a documentary series following the stories of seven adolescents entitled Romans d’ados (Teen Fictions). Here, a group of teenagers is filmed with tender attention to detail, the camera often placed where their eye is drawn to. The singing and double bass lessons illustrate the impact that musical vocabulary can have on a visual project, starting with the musical notation – the protagonists’ initials are shown like so many scales and harmonies –, but especially in terms of the score – the counterpoint of the soundtrack, montage in the form of a fugue – and ultimately in the realisation of a choral film.
