"Best Book Design from all over the World" competition in Leipzig 2026
A Swiss medal winner at the Best Book Design from all over the World competition in Leipzig
Switzerland also had some success this February at the annual Best Book Design from all over the World competition organised by the Fondation Buchkunst in Leipzig. A work named as one of the Most Beautiful Swiss Books won a Bronze Medal, in a field of 570 books from 33 different countries. This was Heatwave, published by The National Pavilion of the Kingdom of Bahrain; graphic design: Samuel Bänziger, Rosario Florio, Larissa Kasper, St Gallen; printing: DZA Druckerei zu Altenburg.
Unmittelbar, dringend, ungeduldig. Die gestalterische Unerschrockenheit der Keramikerin Elisabeth Langsch, Edition Hochparterre, Zurich; graphic design: Naima Schalcher, Zurich; printing: TBS, La Buona Stampa SA, Pregassona, also received an honourable mention.
Two other books were also featured on the 21-strong shortlist:
Dirty Old River, published by Park Books, Zurich; graphic design: John Morgan studio – John Morgan, Teresa Lima, Adrien Vasquez; printing: Die Keure, Bruges; and An Exciting Opportunity Lies Ahead of You, published by JRP | Editions, Geneva; graphic design: NORM – Dimitri Bruni, Manuel Krebs, Ludovic Varone, Zurich; printing: DZA Druckerei zu Altenburg.
The Best Book Design from all over the World will be presented at the Leipzig Book Fair (Hall 14), from 19 to 22 March 2026. The prize-giving ceremony will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Friday 20 March 2026.
