Since 2014, the Federal Office of Culture annually presented the Swiss Theatre Awards in recognition of individuals or institutions that have made an outstanding contribution to Switzerland's diverse theatre scene.
Several Swiss Theatre Prizes were awarded in recognition of the most diverse areas of Swiss theatre creation as well as outstanding actors and actresses or artistic achievements in theatre. As the highest regognition, the Federal Office of Culture awarded the Swiss Grand Award for Theatre / Hans Reinhart Ring to an outstanding personality or institution of the Swiss theatre scene.
From 2021, the Swiss Theatre Awards and Swiss Dance Awards will be merged under the umbrella of the Performing Arts, and presented annually at a joint event.
