Even before the first Swiss Dance Awards were launched, the Federal Dance Jury was well aware just how much still needed to be done in reappraising and popularising Swiss dance history and culture. This led to the creation of an awareness-raising campaign to enhance the profile of dance as cultural heritage.
Starting in 2012, two or three projects devoted to the topic of dance as cultural heritage receive support totalling CHF 150,000 in the years between the biennial Swiss Dance Awards. A short film entitled “Switzerland moves” was also commissioned to provide an overview of 100 years of Swiss dance history.
