Jungle Books is an independent publishing house based in St Gallen. It was founded in 2015 by Samuel Bänziger (graphic designer, born 1985), Rosario Florio (graphic designer, born 1980), Olivier Hug (programmer, born 1984) and Larissa Kasper (graphic designer, born 1986) and is primarily devoted to contemporary Swiss art and architecture. Jungle Books’ publications provide clear and precise insights into their subjects and the contexts within which they were created. They stand out on account of the meticulous attention that is paid to the typography, images, layout, papers and printing processes, all of which contribute to the refined organisation of space.

The jury commends the quality and consistency with which Jungle Books publications are produced, particularly given the fragile state of the independent publishing world. It underlines the importance of this platform for work and for the exchange of ideas in the content creation, graphic design and publishing professions. The frequency with which works by Jungle Books appear in the publishing landscape is testament to the drive, perseverance and exacting standards of its founders, who can take self-initiated projects and elevate them into landmark publications.
