Jan-Tschichold Prize 2021
Since 1997, the BAK has awarded the Jan Tschichold Prize to a personality, a group or an institution for outstanding achievements in book design. The prize is awarded on the recommendation of the jury and independently of the competition "The most beautiful Swiss books". This year, the Jan Tschichold Prize goes to Krispin Heé.
Born in 1979, Krispin Heé has been working independently for more than ten years. Currently based in Zurich and Berlin, she has also lived in St. Gallen, Bern and Leipzig, all of which have clearly had a lasting impact on her vision of graphic design. Her books, which have featured among the Most Beautiful Swiss Books on a number of occasions, are emblematic of a practice that is highly varied in visual terms, but invariably precise when it comes to execution. “Lily Keller”, “Art Décor” and “Die Verwandte”, winners in 2015, 2016 and 2019 respectively, attest to a strong artistic direction that rejects any signature effect in order to foreground the project’s identity. The jury commends that dedication and rigour.
