Björn Meyer

Swiss music prize 2019

Bassist and composer Björn Meyer was born in Stockholm on 5 September 1965; he grew up in Sweden, learned the trumpet, played the guitar in various bands, and switched to e-bass at the age of 18. He became a professional musician in 1989, and moved to Switzerland in 1996. In 2002, joining forces with Iranian harpist Asita Hamidi, he founded Bazaarpool, the highly reputed artists' network. He has made albums with Nik Bärtsch and Anouar Brahem, among others, and released his solo CD "Provenance" in 2017. He teaches as a guest lecturer in Sweden and Switzerland.
