Markus Flückiger

Nominated for the Swiss music prize 2015

Markus Flückiger was born in Brittnau in 1969 and today lives in central Switzerland. As a child he learned to play the schwyzerörgeli, a traditional Swiss accordion, and performed in various dance bands while at school. Branching out as a freelance musician and music teacher, he became heavily involved with Swiss folk music, exploring new avenues in the scene with groups such as pareglish and Hujässler and really shaking things up. Flückiger lectures on the schwyzerörgeli at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and the Arts and is musical director of the university ensemble “Alpini Vernähmlassig”.
