Annette Schmucki

In her work, the composer Annette Schmucki treats language like music to create pieces for ensembles large and small, sound installations, audio dramas, operas, concepts, performances and texts. Schmucki was born in Zurich in 1968. She studied in Winterthur under Cornelius Schwehr and at Freiburg im Breisgau under Mathias Spahlinger (master’s). She is a member of the collectives blablabor, band, and die sieben schweinsschwestern. Schmucki has received numerous awards for her artistic production. Her works have been performed and premiered by renowned ensembles and at festivals in Switzerland and Europe. The film Hagel und Haut, about Schmucki’s life and work, appeared in 2010. From 2012 to 2013 she was a fellow of the Villa Concordia.
