The Special Academy Award 2020 goes to the chief lighting technician Ernst Brunner
for his lighting design in the fiction films “Tambour Battant” and “Sekuritas”.
Statement by the jury:
The proper use of light and shadow is one of the most demanding tasks in film. Lighting technicians generally work behind the scenes and rarely stand in the spotlight.
Ernst Brunner is a creative thinker and team leader – without airs and graces. He has played a key role in shaping countless productions due to the exemplary use of his craft as a lighting technician
