Statement by the Nomination Committee:
The Special Academy Award 2016 goes to two sound editors: Guido Keller for his sound mixing of "Köpek" and Jacques Kieffer for his sound mixing of "Above and Below". With a perfect balance between all elements of their soundtracks, they have created a cogent dramaturgy as well as a driving narrative component – concise and consistent, yet never clamouring or gimmicky. The two sound engineers are co-partners of Magnetix Tonstudio in Zurich, a group of creative sound aficionados who have been pivotal in influencing the bon ton in Swiss cinema for decades.
