Hiver nomade

Best Documentary Film 2013 - Nomination

Hiver nomade

by Manuel von Stürler

Carole and Pascal embark on their winter transhumance with three donkeys, four dogs and around a thousand sheep in tow, braving the cold and snow for three months, with a canvas cover and animal skins as their only shelter at night. Leaving behind villas, railroad tracks and industrial areas, they traverse a landscape in transition, making friends with farmers they meet as well as with “commuters” – the newcomers to these increasingly urbanised regions. A contemporary adventure film that takes us back to our roots and raises questions about today’s society.
