Santiago Martinez Benedetti’s project is a reflection on how we perceive and consume landscapes as well as a critique of the stereotypical perception of the Swiss Alpine view. Using a hybrid photo/photocopier machine of his own design, he creates monotypes that also comment on issues of reproductions in photography and the relationship between originals and copies. The jury acknowledged the relevance of this anti-sublime approach, rooted in rawness, materiality and irony.
