The jury swiftly and unequivocally agreed to single out the excellent work of Eva Ott, who runs the Plisseebrennerei studio in Basel. This dedicated woman’s all-encompassing vision of not only keeping the important textile tradition of hand-pleated fabrics alive but also developing it further through experimentation and research impressed all of the jury members in equal measure. Ott, who also receives invitations to collaborate with leading international fashion houses, enables Switzerland’s professional fashion and textile scene to develop and even produce prototypes of the very highest quality. She offers workshops for anyone with an interest in pleating. The jury found her openness, generosity and motivation extremely impressive and fascinating.
