Mimicking a catalogue selling tubular accessories, Jeremy Ayer developed his art practice upon a rigorous system. The final work is a book with a minimal design. The work is both an homage to anonymous industrial photography (a form of photography in the service of the object) and a deconstruction of the process of image-making. Working with a large-format camera and in black and white, Ayer sends us back to this question intrinsic to photography: is the medium both art and non-art?
