Prove your love is the latest body of work by Jenny Rova, whose work focuses on self-portraiture and amateur photography. Realised over three years, the series gathers 726 screen captures of filmed conversations with the man who was to become her husband. Taken without the knowledge of her boyfriend (a migrant whose application for asylum had been refused and who refused to be photographed because of his insecure living situation), these images were precious for the artist, who wished to have photographs of her lover, but were also used to prove the relationship between the two at the migration office. Developing an artistic practice on photography and intimacy, Rova raises questions about the image as an object of precious memory and as seen as evidence.
