Swiss Grand Award for Design 2016 goes to Claudia Caviezel, Hans Eichenberger and Ralph Schraivogel

The Federal Office of Culture (FOC) presents this year’s Swiss Grand Award for Design to textile designer Claudia Caviezel, furniture and interior designer Hans Eichenberger and graphic designer Ralph Schraivogel. The award winners will receive their honours on Tuesday 14 June 2016 at the opening of the Swiss Design Awards 2016 exhibition. The exhibition, which runs in parallel with Art Basel and DesignMiami between 14 and 19 June 2016, presents interviews and photographic portraits of the award winners. The publication accompanying the Swiss Grand Award for Design 2016 will be presented in Milan on 11 April 2016 in parallel with the Salone del Mobile.

Swiss Design Awards – the 2014 winners

The Federal Office of Culture (FOC) has named 20 winners of the Swiss Design Awards 2014. All the award winners will be honoured on 17 June, along with Alfredo Häberli, Wolfgang Weingart and Erich Biehle, the previously announced winners of the Swiss Grand Award for Design 2014. Works by the participants in the second round of the Swiss Design Competition will be presented in the Swiss Design Awards 2014 exhibition, which takes place in parallel with Art Basel.

Federal Office of Culture awards the Grands Prix Design 2013

This year, the Federal Office of Culture is once again awarding the Grand Prix Design to inter-nationally renowned Swiss designers. The three individual prizes go to textile designer Martin Leuthold, the designers and architects Trix and Robert Haussmann, and the graphic designer Armin Hofmann. Video portraits of the winners will be shown as part of Design Miami at the Art Basel art show.

Swiss Art Awards and Swiss Design Awards 2015 – the winners

The Federal Office of Culture has named 11 winners of the Swiss Art Awards and 18 winners of the Swiss Design Awards. The works by participants in the second round of the Swiss Art Competition and Swiss Design Competition will be shown in the Swiss Art Awards 2015 and Swiss Design Awards 2015 exhibitions, which take place in parallel with Art Basel. The Swiss Art Awards 2015 will be presented this evening in the presence of Federal Councillor Alain Berset.

The Most Beautiful Swiss Books 2014 at the Helmhaus Zürich

This year, the Helmhaus hosts the “Most Beautiful Swiss Books” competition for the fifth time. Over a four-day period, it will be a meeting place for designers, publishers and producers. The Jan Tschichold Award, which recognises outstanding achievements in book design, goes to the designer, publisher and university professor Urs Lehni. The exhibition in the Helmhaus marks the first stage of a small exhibition tour which will also travel to St. Gallen, Lavin, Basel and Geneva.

Three “Most Beautiful Swiss Books” of 2014 earn gold, bronze and an honorary appreciation in the international competition

Switzerland has won a gold medal, a bronze and an honorary appreciation in the “Best Book Design from all over the World” competition. The award-winning titles were among the 17 “Most Beautiful Swiss Books” of 2014 chosen in January by the Federal Office of Culture.

The Most Beautiful Swiss Books 2013 at the Helmhaus Zurich

Once again, the Helmhaus Zurich opens its doors to the “Most Beautiful Swiss Books” competition, which celebrates its 70th birthday this year. Over a four-day period, the Helmhaus will play host to designers, publishers and producers. The Jan Tschichold Award, which recognises outstanding achievements in book design, goes to the Zurich-based publisher and comedian Patrick Frey. The exhibition in the Helmhaus marks the first stage of a small exhibition tour which will also take in Lausanne, Lavin and St. Gallen.

The Most Beautiful Swiss Books 2013: Highest award for a book in the international competition

The competition «The Most Beautiful Swiss Books» celebrates its seventieth anniversary this year. In January 2014, a five-member jury awarded 22 books as the most beautiful Swiss books of 2013. Subsequently, the book Meret Oppenheim. Worte nicht in giftige Buchstaben einwickeln was awarded the Golden Letter at the international competition «Most Beautiful Books from all over the world» – the highest distinction of its kind. The most beautiful Swiss books will be presented in Leipzig in March 2014 on the occasion of Switzerland participation as host country at the Leipzig Book Fair.

The 19 Most Beautiful Swiss Books of 2012

On behalf of the Swiss Federal Office of Culture, a five-member jury awarded 19 books for the year 2012. The competition The Most Beautiful Swiss Books exists since 1943, and is coordinated by the Swiss Federal Office of Culture since 1999. The jury received a record 454 submissions into the competition this year. The Jan Tschichold Award, which honours excellence in the field of book design, goes to the typographer, type and graphic designer François Rappo from Lausanne.
